New Zealand Christchurch Mosque Terror Attack

Hana El-Nashar

Brenton Harrison shot and killed 50 Muslims praying in Christchurch. He left 34 severely injured and 12 in intensive care in Christchurch Hospital. This isn’t only an act of violence or hatred, it’s terrorism. And the terrorist had the audacity to film the whole thing and post it. What kind of human being does that?

According to Mia Garlick, of Facebook New Zealand, the video was removed out of respect to the people who were affected by this tragedy.

Prime Minster Jacinda Adren said that those who were killed were from this country and its people and the people involved in this disgusting massacre wasn’t and never will be.

People all around the world shouldn’t be calling Harrison a gunman or a shooter, but a terrorist. The first man he shot greeted him and said “ Come, Brother.” right before he was shot. But we should also understand that not all Australians are like Harrison. Not all of them are terrorists. Some of them actually stand with and support the Islamic Community. And we’ve all seen this on all social media platforms. Actor Daniel Gillies posted a picture in Instagram 2 days ago with this caption: “ This violence is not, and never was my country. To the families of those that were taken: we mourn with you. This is truly the darkest day.”

This tragedy doesn’t only affect the families of those that were taken or injured: it affects all humans around the world and not only the Muslims. This isn’t a matter of religion or color and it shouldn’t be treated in that way. It doesn’t matter what those people religions were or what their color was or where they come from, THEY WERE HUMANS.

Instead of looking at this from a racial point of view, we should approach it with a rational one. These were people. They were someone’s father/mother, brother/sister/ son/daughter. They had a family.

I’m sure the local authorities will handle this in a “government” way. As for the people, we should all stand together against terrorism. It doesn’t matter our religion, we are people. And we should unite against everyone like Brenton Harrison. He and others like him are trying to destroy us and destroy our faith. We can’t allow them to do that. Because if we do, they win. They will tear us apart and we will live in a world where our own children won’t be safe. I’m sure this tragic massacre will be a wake up call for all of us. And it will remind us that humanity is everything and in order to live, we must be humane

Life is hard enough without someone walking into your life on purpose and making it worse
